Choose Your Canvas Weight (oz)
Canvas weight is measured in oz (ounces per square yard), and the bigger the number, the thicker and tougher the bag. CUSTA runs from a light 5oz up to a heavy 16oz. In practice, 8oz is the everyday standard, 10–12oz is what you want for retail or anything meant to be kept, and the thick 16oz shows up on structured pouches.

Care and Ageing
Because canvas is cotton, it washes and keeps going, which non-woven cannot do. Here is what to expect over time:

- Can I wash it? Yes. To protect the print, turn it inside out and hand wash or use a laundry bag. Skip the dryer and bleach.
- Will it lose its shape? The heavier weights (10–12oz) hold shape best. Hang it to air dry and it keeps its form for a long time.
- How does it age? It softens and gets more character the more you use it. Natural (undyed) canvas in particular wears nicely.

Choose Your Print Method
Canvas prints two ways: silk screen and DTF. While the colours-by-quantity logic is straightforward, a heavier cotton weave brings its own specific things to watch for.

Common Mistakes (A Quick Pre-Flight):
- Colour Migration Dye from dark canvas can bleed into light prints over time. Flag dark-bag light-print jobs so we can use anti-migration ink bases.
- Pale Ink on Natural Canvas White or pale artwork tends to sink into undyed canvas and read weakly. Go bolder on colour, or request a white underbase.
- Fine Detail on Thick Weave On heavy 16oz canvas, hairline strokes and tiny type break up on texture. Keep lines bolder and text a bit larger.
- Low-Resolution Files Anything under 300 DPI at actual size turns soft. Send logos as transparent PNG or AI vector files.
- Trusting Your Screen Bright RGB tones often calm down when printed. If brand colours must match exactly, choose silk screen with a PANTONE code.
